How much do you trust reviews?
After all, people's tastes and preferences differ.
And when you go for something with much anticipation because someone highly recommended it, the chances of you getting disappointed are there.
Again, that's because people's expectations are different.
I'm guilty of relying on reviews at times but Mr. Grumpy has taught me to see for myself instead and so even when a certain movie is give just 1 star, I/we would watch it nevertheless.
I seldom dig food reviews since I'm a hmmm picky eater (I choose to believe I'm a selective eater) and certainly don't believe in long queues equal good food.
Such 'good food' are often overrated and a waste of time (spent on queing) especially when you are almost fainting from hunger.
Also, having to put in effort to wait means you are expecting a certain results and again, the expectation vs disappointment equation comes into the picture.
This afternoon, we were at Porn's, a new Thai food place owned by TV celebrity. He was there when we reached but disappeared shortly so if you are a fan, you can try catching him there. My colleague said the place would be packed at dinner but fortunately, there wasn't much of a lunch crowd. Maybe it's a Monday and people want to go light after a weekend of feasting? I would describe the place as an in-between of a restaurant and a cafe so I didn't think the prices are that reasonable. The food is good but once you put the price tag to it, it falls short a little.
I love the prawn cake and stir-fry kang kong but a second visit would take a while because I'm sure I can find a better if not of similar standard thai place at a lower price. For a start, our cousin in-law is a Thai and she cooks authentic Thai food!
